Satellite Remote Sensing is now established as a professional segment in space communication and is widely viewed as an attractive career path for those with technical, management, legal and other backgrounds. It has also become a viable field of study and research crossing more than one scholarly discipline.

This issue of the Online Journal of Space Communication focuses on the historic development of satellite remote sensing to include its history, current status, principal space platforms and applications, and future directions.

The Journal aspires to be a go-to site for those who wish to learn more about the art and practice of sensing of earth from the perspective of space. Visitors with technological, business, regulation and policy and social impact interests will find much to capture their attention.

Please note that this Journal is not a static publication, and its contents are not forever fixed. The advantage of being online is that content of considerable breadth and depth can be posted from which a thread of discussion can be initiated. Content can be updated. Others can be invited to contribute.

If you have a piece of research, a course of study, a critical perspective you wish to share, please do so by sending an email to the Guest Editor at
