However, in time of wars, man made and natural disasters, commercial satellites, fixed and mobile, are relied upon to support search, rescue, and recovery. This panel focused on the Strengths and Weaknesses of existing Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) and Fixed Satellite services (FSS). Further this panel sought to address how does this nation ensure that much needed satellite capacity and low cost and user-friendly terminals will be available to meet the needs of first responders and affected population on a timely basis?
