Paul Bush, Vice President Business Development, Telesat Canada
Mr. Bush has held a variety of positions during his 27 years at Telesat. Over the last 17 years he has worked primarily in the marketing and sales areas, responsible for a number of Telesat's Marketing strategies, as well as, handling Telesat's Regional, and National Sales portfolios. Experience includes the development, marketing, and implementation of satellite services in Canada and the United States. This includes extensive experience with Broadcasters, Telephone companies, Federal Government departments and private business users.
Mr. Bush has had several years of experience in the broadcasting, data communications and telephony fields. He has also been actively involved in Government activities with Industry Canada and the CRTC in the areas of spectrum development and broadcasting and broadband satellite services. In his role as Vice President, Corporate Development, Mr. Bush is responsible for all marketing activities related to the development of business plans and the associated partners for new satellite services in Canada, the U.S. and internationally. Most recently, he has primed the development of a DBS system for Canada and is now focused on the development of the next generation of multimedia satellites for the America's, as well as, pursuing a number of international satellite ventures.
Mr. Bush holds a Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Ottawa as well as a Bachelor of Education from Queens. He is a Board member of OCRI (Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation), CATA (Canadian Advanced Technology Association), as well as SSPI (Society of Satellite Professionals Intl). He has been active in the development of strategies for the deployment of information/telecommunication technologies in northern and rural Canada and in putting forward recommendations concerning the role of satellite in Canada's Connectedness agenda.
Jack Rigley was appointed Vice President of the Satellite Communications Research
Branch at CRC in 1998. Prior to this, he spent eight years as CRC's Director of Mobile and Personal Communications.
Prior to joining CRC, Mr. Rigley worked on air-ground communications systems as a research engineer with
Transport Canada.
After completing an engineering degree at the University of New Brunswick under a military scholarship, he served four years as an officer in the Canadian Forces. He worked in the areas of radar and military satellite communications. Mr. Rigley is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Centre for Marine Communications.
Virendra Jha, Director General, Space Technologies, Canadian Space Agency
Dr. Virendra Jha has an experience of 30 years covering various space programs in Canada. Dr. Jha started his professional career with RCA Limited. He subsequently worked at Spar Aerospace in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where he was Director of Engineering.
Dr. Jha joined the Canadian Space Agency in 1991. In recognition of his contribution to the Canadian Space Program, the Canadian Astronautical and Space Institute (CASI) bestowed him with the Alouette Award in 1999. This award is given to a Canadian who makes a very significant contribution to the Canadian Space Program. Dr. Jha holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, a Master's degree from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and a Ph.D. degree in Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
